Jamboree - August 21

Back-to-School Jamboree: Thursday, August 21, 12-7:30 PM

Students and families are invited to come to Black Hawk for a casual and informative open house-type visit. You’ll be able to pick up a paper student schedule, have school pictures taken, register for co-curriculars, submit student physicals, apply for nutrition services educational benefit program, access tech support as a parent, explore the building, purchase Panther spirit wear, meet faculty, staff, administration, and much more!

School Meals

There is no charge for free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch. A second full breakfast or lunch for a student is the same price as an adult breakfast and lunch. Only individual meal pricing is listed for an adult breakfast and lunch (weekly, monthly and yearly pricing is not available). Milk is included with all meals, but for additional cartons of milk or if purchased separately, it is an Ala Carte charge of 40 cents each for all eligibility levels.

For questions about your student’s meal account or balance information, please contact the food and nutrition services manager at your student’s school.

Parent School Alliance (PSA)

The Parent School Alliance (PSA) works to support the students, teachers and families of Black Hawk Middle School by providing fun and engaging community events for our students, enrichment opportunities, funding for supplemental classroom supplies, field trips and other special events in order to enhance the learning experience for all Black Hawk Students. If you have a child at Black Hawk, you are AUTOMATICALLY a member!

Parent Portals

Infinite Campus: Student Information System including Household information, Emergency Contact information, Attendance, and Report Cards/End of Term Grades. When you set up your account you will be required to update your household emergency contact information. An Activation Key provided by the school is needed to create an account. If you do not have an Activation Key, please contact the main office or fill in the form below.

PayPams: Student Meal Account Management

EduTrak Connect: Online Registration for Fees, Athletics/Activities, Events (Replacement of FeePay)

Schoology: Student Learning Management System. Students will have access to their account. Parent accounts provide visibility to assignments, grading, and classroom and school-wide communications. A Parent Access Code is needed to create an account. If you do not have an access code, please contact the main office or fill in this form.

Schoology Support for Parents - This link provides videos to support your understanding of Schoology, our Learning Management System (LMS). Students work in Schoology every day, so we ask parents to create an account or log into their existing account. Schoology is where you can monitor your student’s assignments, work completion, and current grades. Should you need support, contact alyssa.pask@district196.org and amanda.schendel@district196.org.

All participating students are required to have a Sports Physical on file with the School Nurse in order to participate.

Sports Physical Forms

Sports Physicals - it is never too early to think about completing a sports physical if your student hasn’t had one in the past three years and wants to participate in athletics next year. Twin Cities Orthopedics has a number of free sports physicals this summer, including one in the Eagan area on August 5th - see their website for more information.

At Black Hawk Middle School, there are Arts and Activities for every student

Students are invited and encouraged to to participate in the variety of art opportunities and activities. We have a number of academic clubs, fine arts experiences and theater opportunities, and we are always adding more!

How do I change my phone or email address in Campus Parent?

Parents/Guardians have the ability to update their email and/or phone numbers through Campus Parent.

Note - A Campus Parent account must be set up in order to make these changes.

To modify this information follow the steps below.

Navigate to the District 196 website www.district196.org
Hover your mouse over Community and then click on Infinite Campus.

Scroll down to Family Access and click on Infinite Campus and then Infinite Campus LOGIN.
- Note - If you have not set up your Campus Parent (portal) account, you will need to contact your child’s school for more information.

Click on Campus Parent and then log in with your Parent Username and Password. Click Log In.

Once logged in, click on the 3 lines and then click on More.

Click on Family Information to pull up the members of the Household.

Find the Parent/Guardian in the list and click Update to change their email or phone number.

Change any applicable information and then click on Update to save the information. A SUCCESS message will pop up saying that the contact information was successfully updated.

Educational Benefits

Families are encouraged to apply for Educational Benefits

Families are encouraged to complete an Educational Benefits Application. Your children may qualify! Applications for the 2024-25 school year are available beginning July 15th.

While meals are free for all students, all families are highly encouraged to complete an Application for Educational Benefits. Your approved application provides critical funding to our school district. This compensatory aid helps increase funding for teachers, paraprofessionals and social workers to include math and reading support. An approval for educational benefits also allows families to receive discounted Activities/Community Education fees. Learn more about the Educational Benefits Program >

Student iPad User Agreement and Optional iPad Protection Plan

Starting this school year, reviewing and acknowledging the student iPad user agreement and purchasing the optional iPad protection plan to cover a student's iPad in case of damage or theft are now separate steps. The student iPad user agreement is now part of the annual review process in Infinite Campus. The optional iPad Protection Plan is now available for families to purchase in EduTrak Connect.
