District 196 Superintendent Mary Kreger today announced that Deerwood Elementary School Principal Jeremy Sorenson has been hired to be the district’s next director of elementary education beginning July 1.
Students of the Year for 2022-23 were selected by teachers and administrators at all four comprehensive high schools in District 196. Students were selected based on their academic performance and participation in the given subject area during their high school career.
District 196 Superintendent Mary Kreger today announced that Human Resources Coordinator Shelly Monson will be the next human resources director.
District 196 students won three of 13 state championships and 28 of the 104 total medals awarded at this year’s Class AA state speech tournament held at Eastview High School April 28. Eastview also hosted the Class A tournament April 29.
The four-year graduation rate for District 196 students as a whole stayed the same in 2022 at 88.5% and remained almost 5% higher than the statewide rate, according to graduation data released by the Minnesota Department of Education April 25
More than 2,100 students are scheduled to graduate from District 196 schools during commencement ceremonies scheduled for May and early June.
District 196 is accepting applications through May 12 for one elementary school parent and one community business representative on its Gifted and Talented Advisory Council (GTAC). The term for both open positions is three years, beginning July 1, 2023.
The District 196 Communications Department is accepting applications through April 30 for three at-large citizen positions on the district’s Legislative Advisory Council (LAC)
Parents and guardians in District 196 interested in becoming involved in districtwide conversations regarding curriculum, instruction and assessment are encouraged to apply for membership on the district’s Curriculum and Instruction Advisory Council (CIAC).
