Hello Black Hawk families,
Welcome to Week Three! We are excited about entering into this week knowing that students and staff are starting to settle into a new type of school routine. We hope you are navigating through this at home and finding a rhythm that works for your family. The “Newness” of how we engage in distance learning whether in the hybrid or digital academy is an amazing challenge. The time, effort, enthusiasm, and expertise our staff is devoting to support our students is inspiring. We are here to support your student and family! We appreciate all of you! Your support, empathy, and understanding of all that we are trying to accomplish does not go unnoticed; we are grateful.

Parents of 6th Graders
We are thrilled to announce that Mrs. Angela Schnobrich officially started today as our new 6th grade reading teacher! Mrs. Schnobrich is excited to be joining the team at Blackhawk. She comes to us with over 20 years of experience as a middle school teacher with a focus in English language arts and reading. She is looking forward to sharing her love of reading and books with her 6th grade reading classes.
Parents of 7th Graders
If your student started the year with Mr. Soruco as their science teacher, please note that we have a short-term sub in his classroom. Mr. Patrick McDonough is a seasoned sub at Black Hawk and is happy to support us as we look for a long-term sub in Mr. Soruco’s absence for the remainder of the school year.
Please look for information coming in the mail and via email regarding MAP testing in reading and math. We will be testing all 6th and 7th grade students in their English Language Arts and Math classes, as well as a select group of 8th graders during the month of October. Cohort C Digital Academy Students will sign up online for a time slot to take the test from home. The MAP reading test will occur during the week of October 5th-9th and the MAP math test will occur the week of October 19th-23rd.
