News from the Principal - December 18, 2020

Winter break is just a weekend and two days away!  We look forward to seeing our students in the Zoom room on both Monday and Tuesday before saying goodbye to 2020!  Remember if you are not “attending” school on line to please call in and let us know.  We are actively tracking student attendance and we look forward to introducing our, “Just One Click Away!” attendance campaign after the first of the year where we will celebrate students striving to “show up” on a daily basis.  We truly miss our students when we don’t see them on screen; we worry and wonder if they and their families are doing okay.  We remain solid in our supportive stance as we navigate endless change.  We are here to support students and families in myriad ways; please tell us what you need.

BHMS is committed to community partnerships to support families in need during this season and throughout the year.  Every Meal (formerly Sheridan Story) supplies meal kits independently and/or supplemental to the ISD 196 meal packs.  These are available on site at BHMS through next Tuesday, December 22, with an additional pick up location at the YMCA in Eagan over break.  Information available at: winter meal program map

We are proud partners with the Eagan Police Department and our dedicated School Resource Officer Heather Berens who has the honor of participating in the “Shop with a Cop” program. Four of our BHMS families have been selected to shop with Heather this holiday season.  We also received a generous donation from an anonymous BHMS donor to support an additional family.

As many of you are aware ISD 196 is preparing to pivot our learning model at the elementary level as a result of  the Governor’s most recent orders.  Our elementary colleagues are preparing to return in person more quickly than us; but we are preparing too.  Please stay tuned as January will bring another round of Principal & Parent Listening Sessions to field your feedback and allow for dialogue.

My wish for all of our community is a safe and peaceful end of 2020.  May all of you find comfort in time over break with your loved ones.  Let us all move forward with kindness as we wrap up the year and move forward into 2021.

“Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness.  Kindness in giving creates love.”  - Lao Tzu

Health & Safety Over Winter Break

Over winter break, please continue to inform the school if you or your child is ill or are experiencing symptoms, if you or your child is identified as a close contact to someone who is COVID-19 positive, and if there are any positive test results in your household. We are obligated to continue tracking this data for the district, county and state, and will be assisting with contact tracing. This data will help determine the learning model and our opportunities for in-person experiences when we return to school in 2021. Please use the BHMS COVID-19 After Hours Reporting Form to inform the school of this information.

Report Cards/Grades

Trimester I grades will be available to view in Campus Parent Portal on Tuesday, December 22, at the end of the day.
