News from the Principal - February 22, 2021

Hello!  Welcome to the “3rd First-day of School” in the 2020-2021 School Year.  Truly, a year for the history books.  We were so thrilled to see students back on campus today and humbled by the efforts and resilience of our educators entering into Hybrid 2.0 where they are doing what they’ve never done before, teaching in person and via Zoom at the same time.  Our mantra right now is to stay grounded, orient ourselves to yet another iteration of teaching and learning, and go slow so we all feel calm, connected, and part of a learning community like we’ve never seen before.  We appreciate your patience and welcome feedback.  Please look for “Parent Listening Sessions with the Principal” sign-ups the week of March 15th.

We are preparing to launch our BHMS Annual Food and Fund Drive in partnership with Open Door.  According to Feeding America and the US Census, we know that 630,000 Minnesotans face food insecurity.  This means, 1 out of 9 Minnesotans face hunger, including 1 of 6 children.  Food security is critical in sustaining our families and students so they can show up ready to learn.  Our goal this year is to collect 2021 pounds of food and $2021 dollars to support families in our community.  The Open Door is, “dedicated to ending local hunger through access to healthy food.”  The official kick off will be this Thursday and Friday, February 25 and 26.  If you’d like to “jump start” our campaign by making a monetary donation, you can do so with ease by following this link.  Thank you for your support!
