We launched our school wide Annual Food and Fund Drive in partnership with Open Door last week. Our goal this year is to collect 2021 pounds of food and $2021 dollars to support families in our community.

Parent Listening Sessions
Parent Listening Sessions will be held again on Tuesday, March 16. Please use the Registration Link link to sign up and submit questions. Those registered will receive an email with the Zoom link on Monday, March 15, to attend the session Tuesday AM or PM.
MDH Recommends COVID Testing for Students and Families
COVID-19 testing for kids and families - The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) announced a recommendation for all school-age youth returning to school, youth sports, or extracurricular activities, and their families, to get tested every two weeks through the end of the school year. While it is not a requirement, regular testing complements other safety measures already in place, such as masking and social distancing.

Future Cities Competition
On Saturday evening, the Future Cities team from Black Hawk Middle School received two awards for their city on the moon named Emporia.
Washington, D.C. Trip for Next Year’s 8th Grade Students
Future 8th grade students will have the option to travel to Washington, D.C. next October 21st - 24th, 2021. Students and parents of current 7th graders at BHMS should plan to attend the information Zoom meeting on Thursday, March 4th, at 7:00 PM
This fall, there will be the option for K-12 students to attend our new virtual school, 196Online. We have taken the best from our current digital academy program and implemented enhancements and improvements based on feedback from students and educators. 196Online is its own school and conducted completely online. It is an optional choice for families whose students may be more successful in a virtual learning environment. More information available at the following links.
