Hello BHMS Families,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Here at Black Hawk we focus on the whole student, including social, emotional, physical, and psychological health. When students feel safe, welcomed, supported, and valued as part of a community, we know their chances of excelling in school increase both academically and socially. This month during Panther Time, students are learning about their brain and what happens when they are stressed. Students are then engaging in dialogue around noticing their stress triggers, identifying and implementing coping strategies to identify and manage stress.
There has never been a more important time than now to focus on mental health and take proactive steps to take care of yourself and your family’s health. We understand the stress and anxiety that the COVID 19 pandemic and resulting school changes has caused to our entire school community. We encourage you to talk with your student about mental health to normalize the importance of mental health and reduce stigma. Together we can tackle the stress of our daily lives and focus on what we can do in the present moment to support each other. Let’s take the time to take care of ourselves, each other, and our community as we enter into the final four weeks of school.
Below you’ll find community learning opportunities and resources. Please explore these free opportunities and find what might be useful to you and your family.
