There will be NO school on Thursday, Dec. 22, because of the forecasted severe weather conditions. School will resume after Winter Break on Tuesday, Jan. 3. It will be a White Day.
The Main Office will also be closed during that time. We will re-open at 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 3.
The impact of social media
District 196, in partnership with Dakota County and several community partners, will present a screening of the documentary "Like" at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Rosemount High School. The film will be followed by a panel/community discussion.
The documentary explores the impact of social media on our lives and the effects of technology on the brain. The goal of the film is to inspire people to self-regulate when it comes to social media and to empower all to create a healthy balance.
The panel will consist of a school administration, law enforcement, local mental health professionals and high school students. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions, hear from professionals and be empowered by the post-screening conversations to create real change.
The film will be presented with Spanish subtitles and there will be interpreters at the event. "Like" is appropriate for ages 10 years old and up.
The event is free and registration is encouraged.
