Hello BHMS Parents/Guardians,

On behalf of the Black Hawk Middle School staff, congratulations to the 128 students who are the recipients of the trimester two Panther Pride Award.  The teachers nominate the students based on their outstanding achievement/accomplishments in the areas of Academics, Citizenship, Leadership or Co-Curricular activities.  We are very proud of these students and will acknowledge them in a formal ceremony on Thursday, March 5, at 7:15 a.m. in the gymnasium.

Go Panthers!

BHMS Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Kartik Saravanapandi for qualifying for the State Spelling Bee! This is the second year in a row that Kartik has qualified. Kartik was one of only 48 students across the entire state of Minnesota that scored high enough on the qualifying exam. Kartik will now compete against these other 47 students for a chance to go to Washington D.C. for the National Finals. The state competition will be held on March 24 in Shoreview. Way to Kartik and good luck!

MCA Testing 8th Grade

Seventh Grade Food Drive: February 26 - March 5!

The seventh grade annual food drive is once again happening over the next week. This is an excellent opportunity to provide service to our community and show people how much we care! Food and other items collected will go to The Open Door Pantry, which is located in Eagan and provides multiple ways for people to get food.

In addition to seventh grade students bringing in items, we are also extending the invitation to all Black Hawk families and staff to contribute to the cause. Items can be brought in and dropped off in the box in the main office. Because The Open Door Pantry focuses on providing nutritious food, there are specific items they are looking for, depending on the demand of them. Some of these items include: Diapers, toilet paper, crunchy peanut butter, canned meat, cooking oil, bottles of 100% juice, personal hygiene items, oatmeal, cereal, pancake mix, rice, pasta, dried beans, condiments, and canned fruit and vegetables.

Attention Black Hawk Students and Families

March’s  Panther Time theme is Responsibility. There will be a variety of activities and discussion around this theme in morning Panther Time.
